Kawasaki Z250 End Of Year Roundup 2022
Steady progress has been made with this bike. The spare set of carburettors have been overhauled and installed. The front forks were rebuilt using the re-chromed stanchions. Phil Howells spent a great deal of time repainting lots of parts including a nice coat of black paint on what were a spare pair of front fork sliders. Unfortunately when it came to time to put the front wheel back in, it became obvious that the nicely painted fork sliders came from a different version of the bike. Because of this the lugs for the brake caliper were in a slightly different place to the original slider and the nicely painted set can’t be used. We are now looking to re-use the original set but are faced with the problem of removing two broken mudguard mounting bolts. Phil James has kindly offered to take the fork slider away and build up the ends of the broken bolts with a TIG welder hoping that a nut can be welded onto the remains of the bolt. The next hurdle to overcome is getting the correct exhaust system, or at least getting a system with the correct downpipes. No matter how much twisting and straining we do, the downpipes do not align with the engine’s exhaust ports. Oh it’s all good fun.
