Suzuki GSF 1200 Bandit.
Work was done to improve the appearance of the bike by addressing some of the wear and tear and corrosion. Guy tackled the aluminium foot rest and exhaust hangers restoring them to a bright silver painted finish. Andy worked on the rusty area of the frame behind the front forks. He cleaned it and removed the loose corrosion before applying a coat of basecoat, kindly supplied by the bike’s previous owner. Next session it would be time to apply the cherry red metallic top coat.

Z250 Scorpion…
The correct speedo cable had arrived, but Keiran wanted to know if the speedo actually worked. After a bit of thought, Graham got the rechargeable drill out, tightened the chuck onto the bottom end of the cable and got it going in the correct direction. Our lowly rechargeable drill managed a very creditable 38 or so mph.
Mash 400 Dirtstar...
With a new Camshaft being so expensive, the result of trying to remove the camshaft sprocket so uncertain, and the correct spares so difficult to source, Graham was on the verge of getting the grinder out and grinding through the pad on the side of the exhaust valve rocker foot. However, before he took this drastic action, an idea crossed his mind and he pondered (as he often did) whether or not the inlet valve rocker arm would fit in place of the exhaust valve rocker arm. This would remove the need to grind a large portion of the exhaust valve rocker away to remove the pad that the decompressor acts on. Once the left-hand inlet valve rocker was removed and positioned in place of the exhaust valve rocker, it could be seen to be pretty much identical to the exhaust valve rocker, all bar the missing pad. Would it allow us to run the bike with grinding anything? Only time would tell.

Can you spot the pad on the side of the exhaust valve rocker that needed to be removed? |

With help from Phil our mechanic, Chris installed new fork seals in his Kawasaki ER6 to hopefully keep him on the road.
Mal continued working to complete his Honda 650 Vigor. A new battery, new tyres and a little more detailing would soon have the bike running again and ready for the road.
